TEA, GREEN TEA, MATCHA TEA

This healthy Matchæologist Matcha Meiko ceremonial green tea brews a deeply rich emerald green cordial with robust body, sweet-savoury undertones and a bouquet of floral notes and delicate tannins.

Iridescent green in colour, Meiko Ceremonial Matcha (an epithet referencing to the beautiful budding of a flowering plant) is masterfully blended to create a well-defined, flavoursome brew with sweet, mellow top notes, followed by savoury undertones of salted caramel and with floral hints of tannins complimenting the finish.

This matcha is characterised by its remarkable ooika fragrance, a captivatingly refreshing aroma found only in the most exceptional shade-grown green tea. Perfect to be brewed on its own or enjoyed as part of a plethora of health elixirs of choice.

Place of origin

Kagoshima, Japan.

Ingredients: green tea powder.

Preparation:

Place 1/2 tsp (approx. 2 bamboo scoops) of matcha (1g) in matcha bowl, then wet with 15ml (0.5fl oz) of 70°C/160°F water. Thoroughly knead mixture using bamboo whisk until smooth paste forms. Add 70ml (2.4fl oz) of remaining water and mix until consistent. At Matchaeologist, frothing ceremonial matcha is not encouraged as the resultant airy foam can impair matcha's flavour delivery potential. Upon sipping, roll the liquid around the palate to appreciate the full flavour anatomy of the tea.

Storage: store in a cool dry place, away from moisture, sunlight, and odours, refrigerate after opening for maximum flavour and potency.

Production and design

The distillation of our master tea blenders' and farmers' generations of experience, our three ceremonial matcha blends are hand-picked from the topmost, virgin leaves of shade-grown tea-trees during the first harvest to create outstanding grades of matcha that rival fine wines with the sophistication and breadth of their flavors. All three are ideal for brewing on their own, with warm or ice cold water. The higher the grade, the sweeter, less bitter, and more umami-rich they are.

Use and care

Before use, cut open the inner bag of the matcha and gently empty the contents into the tin.
